Hotel Orel (orel = eagle) is a classical city hotel sitting in the heart of Maribor's pedestrian zone just off the Castle square. Imagine sipping your morning coffee in a nearby cafe yards from the hotel close to absolutely everything that is going on in Maribor...

The hotel has been completely refurbished in 2006 and offers clean and tidy facilities including:

• 71 rooms in total

• two family two-bed rooms

• two apartments

• buffet-style breakfast room

• underground parking

• free internet connection in rooms

The east side of the building has been completely refurbished following extending works on the hotel. It is a covered city-center version shopping mall adjacent to the hotel. We have visited Maribor in June 2007 when the works were in the progress and then in November 2007 and April 2008 when the new shopping mall was already opened. I've got to confess, you've got to have a strong personality to evade the surrounding cafes.

Hotel Orel's season divide reflects Maribor's close proximity to skiing slopes:

• High season: January, February, March, April, May, June, September, October, November and December

• Low season: July and August

Prices include spa and casino entry. Half board surcharge is roughly $13 per person per day while full board surcharge is roughly $25 per person per day. Children aged under 4 staying with parents stay for free while those aged between 4 and 12 benefit from a 40% discount. The hotel will charge you an extra 15% in the case of special events (e.g. Festival Lent, Golden Fox competition, etc.).
